From the 10 pin “Mickey Through the Years” collection, this pin depicts Mickey Mouse and his faithful companion Pluto as they appeared in 1939. Mickey is dressed as a hunter in a brown coat and red hat and Pluto is wearing a red dog collar and has an artist's paint brush in his mouth. This pin measures approximately 1 1/2” x 1”.
The “Mickey Through the Years” collection is comprised of 10 smaller Disney pins which feature Mickey Mouse paired up with the rest of the Fab 5; Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, and Goofy, primarily as they appeared in Disney Animated films from 1928 through 1947. They represent an interesting visible timeline of how the characters changed over the years.
These pins were originally sold in pairs in a sealed “mystery box” at a price of $12.00 for the 2 pins. The concept is fun to have the mystery of not knowing what pins you were going to get in any given box, but it can also be frustrating if you wanted to collect only certain pins, or wanted to complete the entire collection.
